vicinity

An area or region near something or someone is considered their vicinity.

When we talk about the vicinity, we're usually thinking about the surroundings or neighborhood of a place. For example, if someone says "I'm looking for a restaurant near my hotel," they mean somewhere close to where they're staying. We might say "The park is just a few blocks from our house" to describe its location in relation to ours. The word can also be used more broadly, like when we talk about the global vicinity of Earth, meaning the space around our planet.
