A verb is an action or a state of being that happens in a sentence. You can think of it as what the subject of the sentence is doing.
Verbs are used to describe actions and events that take place, like running, jumping, eating, or thinking. For example, if you say "I'm studying for my exam," the verb "studying" tells us what action you're taking right now. If someone says "The dog is barking loudly," the verb "barking" shows us what the dog is doing at that moment.
