trait

A trait is a characteristic or quality that someone has.

When we talk about traits in everyday conversation, we usually mean the special features that make each person unique - their personality quirks, habits, and ways of being. For example, your friend might be "a bit of a jokester" because they love to make people laugh, which is one of their defining traits. Alternatively, someone who's very organized and responsible might have "a trait for planning ahead". Traits can also refer to physical characteristics like eye color or height, but in general we use the word to describe what makes each person special.
