A temptation is something that makes you want to do or have something badly. It's often hard to resist.

When we talk about temptations, they can be anything from a tasty dessert to a new pair of shoes. We might feel tempted by a late-night movie marathon because it sounds so much fun, but our parents will probably tell us to go to bed on time instead. If you're trying to diet and see a delicious cake in front of you, that's a temptation too. Some people are tempted to take a shortcut when they're working on a project at school or work, but know that it can lead to trouble later. Temptations are all around us and it's up to each person to decide what they will do with them.
