A sling is a piece of fabric or other material that you wear around your neck or shoulder to support an injured arm.

You've probably seen people using slings after they've hurt their shoulder or arm. They put the injured limb inside and then wrap the rest of it snugly with the sling, keeping it safe from further injury while it heals. Sometimes people use a soft scarf or towel as a makeshift sling when they don't have one available.
