A slapstick is a type of comedy that involves silly, over-the-top situations and physical humor.

In movies or TV shows, people often use the word "slapstick" to describe scenes with lots of slap-happy (not really hitting each other) but rather falling over, tripping, and bumping into things. You might see a character get hit in the face with a pie, or slip on a banana peel, or accidentally knock themselves out with their own stuff. The humor is silly and exaggerated, often making you laugh at the absurdity of it all. This type of comedy has been around for ages – think Charlie Chaplin or the Three Stooges – but it's still popular today in cartoons, sitcoms, and even some action movies!
