A sketch is a rough drawing or outline of something, often used for planning or communicating ideas. It can also refer to a short performance or comedy routine.
When people talk about sketches, they usually mean either a quick drawing or an improvised scene. For instance, if you're trying to get your house remodeled and the architect shows you some sketches, those are probably just rough drawings of what the final product will look like. On the other hand, if someone mentions "a comedy sketch," it's likely a funny short skit they did on stage or in a TV show. Some comedians make careers out of writing and performing these kinds of comedic sketches.
