An emotional feeling that's a bit too strong or silly for everyday life can be called sentimental. People often say it's cliche.

When people talk about something being overly sentimental, they usually mean that someone's being too mushy or touchy-feely. For example, if a movie ends with an incredibly sappy scene where the characters share a heartwarming goodbye after years apart, some viewers might think it's getting too sentimental. The same thing can happen when people write over-the-top love letters or buy their partner really extravagant gifts just to show how much they care. It's not that these things aren't nice, but they're not what most people would call genuine or subtle expressions of emotion.
