A scrape is an injury or mark that happens when your skin gets scratched or rubbed against something.

When someone scrapes their knee, it means they got hurt and now have a sore spot. This can happen easily if you're playing outside and fall down on rough ground. But "scrape" also has other uses - for example, if you scrape the bottom of a pot with a spoon, that means you're getting rid of stuck-on food. Some people even use scrapers to remove old paint from walls or furniture.
