Scaffolding refers to a temporary structure built around a building for support or protection during construction.
When we talk about scaffolding, we often think of big metal frames going up around a building site. You might see workers climbing ladders and hauling heavy materials while standing on these elevated platforms. Scaffolding is used for safety reasons – it helps protect people from falling off the side of the building or getting hit by debris. Without scaffolding, construction sites would be much more hazardous.
To set up a scaffolding; to surround a building with scaffolding.
A temporary modular system of tubes (or formerly wood) forming a framework used to support people and material in the construction or repair of buildings and other large structures.
