A rotor is a spinning part in a machine.
You often hear about rotors when talking about wind turbines or helicopter blades. In these cases, the rotor spins around to create power or lift. But it can also refer to something like a fan blade that's rotating inside an air conditioner. The word "rotor" is similar to "rotary," which means moving in a circle.
A rotating part of a mechanical device, for example in an electric motor, generator, alternator or pump.
