A revolt is when a group of people rise up against someone or something in power. They might not like how things are being done and want to make changes.
When we think of revolts, we often picture big protests or even wars. But a revolt can be anything from a small rebellion at work where employees push back against new rules, to a whole city rising up against an unfair government. Sometimes, people revolt because they feel like their rights are being taken away or that there's corruption in those in power. In the past, we've seen revolts lead to major changes and even entire governments falling apart. Today, you might see people talking about online revolts, where groups come together on social media to protest something they don't agree with.
(intransitive) To rebel, particularly against authority.
Example: The farmers had to revolt against the government to get what they deserved.
