To resemble something means that two things look similar or have some qualities in common.

When we use the word "resemble," we usually compare two things - like a person's face and a family member's, or a new product and one we already know. We might say, "The new employee resembles her older brother" to mean she looks a bit like him. Or, "This restaurant's food resembles our favorite fast-food chain." This can be because of the way they look, their taste, smell, or even some kind of behavior.
