Reconnect means to join or link two things together again that were separated. You reconnect with an old friend who moved away.

When we talk about reconnecting, it usually means re-establishing a relationship or connection between people, groups, or even places. For example, you might reconnect with your childhood neighborhood after moving back home as an adult. You can also reconnect with someone's business, like a company that goes back to its original name after changing it briefly. Sometimes we use the word to describe fixing something broken, like recharging a phone battery to get it fully connected again.
