To recite means to speak or say something from memory, often in a formal way.
When we think about learning and remembering things, "recite" comes up pretty often. Students might have to recite their multiplication tables or poetry they've studied for an exam. It's also common in presentations and speeches - someone might be asked to recite a famous quote or recite the names of people involved in a project. If you're in a language class, your teacher might ask you to recite what you learned that day.
To repeat aloud (some passage, poem or other text previously memorized, or in front of one's eyes), often before an audience.
