ramping

A ramp is an inclined plane used for easy movement between levels.

You'll often see ramps in places with stairs or elevators that are out of order. Maybe you've seen them at airports, helping people get to their gates on a lower level. Ramps can be made of concrete or wood and are usually slightly sloping so people in wheelchairs or with strollers can easily get up or down a set of steps without having to lift anything heavy. Some buildings also have ramps instead of stairs for more convenience and safety.
