To plead is to ask for something, usually help or permission, in a sincere and sometimes emotional way.
When we want something from others, especially if it's important or urgent, we might plead our case. For example, let's say you really need to finish a project on time but you're running out of ideas and are feeling overwhelmed. You could explain the situation to your teacher or manager and plead for an extension. This means you'd ask nicely, hoping they'll understand and help you out. Pleading can also be used in more serious situations, like when someone is asking for mercy from a judge or trying to persuade their parents to change their minds about something important.
To present (an argument or a plea), especially in a legal case.
Example: The defendant has decided to plead not guilty.
