needless

Needless refers to something that is not necessary or required.

When we say something is "needless", we usually mean it's extra and doesn't add anything important. For example, if someone asks for directions and you give them a long complicated route when they can easily walk there, the extra instructions were needless. If a project is already finished, adding more details might be considered needless unless you have to do so for some reason. We often use "needless" in situations where we're talking about saving time or effort.
