monstrous

An outrageous or extreme thing can be called monstrous. Something that's absolutely unacceptable or frightening can also be described with this word.

The word "monstrous" has many uses, but most of them involve describing something as being beyond what's normal or acceptable. For example, if a politician is accused of doing something really wrong and against the law, people might call it a monstrous scandal. Or, you could describe a movie that's too violent or disturbing for kids as having a monstrous plot. Sometimes "monstrous" can also mean unusually large or impressive – for instance, a monstrous truck would be an enormous vehicle. But in general, when we use this word, we're talking about something that's not just big, but also extreme and often unacceptable.
