A landlord is someone who owns and rents out property to others.
When people move into an apartment or house that they don't own themselves, there's usually someone they pay each month for the right to live there. This person is called the landlord - it could be a company or just one person. The landlord takes care of things like fixing broken appliances, cutting the grass, and making sure the building stays safe. In exchange for taking care of these tasks, the landlord gets money from the people who rent the property.
