An ingest means to take something into your body through eating or drinking.
When we talk about ingest, it's usually in the context of food and how our bodies process what we eat. For example, if someone asks you to ingest a certain amount of pills for a medical test, they're telling you to swallow them with water. Or maybe you've heard of ingesting too much sugar or caffeine and feeling sick as a result.

To take a substance (e.g. food) into the body of an organism, especially through the mouth and into the gastrointestinal tract.
