Humiliation is when someone makes you feel very small or embarrassed in front of others. You might experience humiliation if you fail at something important and everyone around you knows about it.
When we talk about humiliation, we usually mean a situation where someone's pride or dignity gets hurt. For example, imagine being called out in class for making a silly mistake, or having your friends tease you about wearing the same outfit as last week. Those situations can make you feel humiliated and wish you could just disappear. We also use the word humiliation to describe public shaming, like when someone is bullied online or made fun of on social media. In all these cases, the goal of the person or people doing the humiliating is often to make others look bad or feel embarrassed.
