An homage is a sign of respect or admiration for someone or something.

When people talk about an homage, they usually mean it as a way to honor or pay tribute to someone, like an artist, musician, or even a superhero. For example, if a new movie pays homage to the classic ones from the 80s, it means that the filmmakers are inspired by those old movies and trying to capture their spirit in their own work. This doesn't mean they're copying them exactly – just that they're showing respect for what came before. Sometimes an homage can be as simple as quoting a famous line or referencing a classic scene from another movie.
