An herbivore is an animal that eats only plants. They don't eat meat or any other animals.
You might hear about different types of animals when you visit the zoo or watch nature documentaries – carnivores, omnivores, and herbivores. But what does this mean in real life? Herbivores are usually big animals like elephants, giraffes, and hippos that spend all day roaming around, eating leaves, fruits, and grass. They have special stomachs that help them digest plants, which is why they don't need to eat meat. If you go on a trip to the jungle or savannah, chances are you'll see some herbivores munching away in the wild.
An organism that feeds chiefly on plants; an animal that feeds on herbage or vegetation as the main part of its diet.
