An emotion is a strong feeling that people experience when they're happy, sad, angry, or scared.
We use the word "emotion" all the time in everyday conversations. For example, if you ask someone how they feel after watching a romantic movie, they might say they felt a lot of love and happiness, which are emotions. Or, if you see someone crying because their favorite sports team lost a big game, you could say they're feeling sad or upset, which is also an emotion. We even talk about our emotions when we're not sure how to describe what's going on inside us - like when we're feeling anxious about a big exam coming up. Emotions can be confusing and hard to explain, but we all experience them in some way.
