A driveway is a path leading up to someone's house or building.
Think about when you visit a friend who lives in a suburban area. You probably drive on a special road that takes you from the street to their front door, right? That's usually called a driveway! It might be paved, made of gravel, or even just a dirt path. Driveways are important because they help people get close to their homes, especially when it snows and we need to park our cars safely away from the main road.
Note: If you're thinking about driving on a highway, that's not called a driveway – it's something else!
(UK, US) A short private road that leads to a house or garage.
