An object or person disappears when they can no longer be seen or found.

When we say that something has disappeared, it usually means that we've looked everywhere but can't find it anymore. This might happen with small things like your favorite phone charger or a big thing like a plane on the way to another country. Imagine you're at the beach and your towel is gone – you'll probably think someone must have taken it by mistake. If a person disappears, it's often because they went somewhere without saying where they'd be going next.
