destruct

Destruct means to damage or destroy something.

When we say that someone's plans were destructed by a sudden event, like a storm destroying their house, we mean that the bad thing happened and ruined everything. This word is often used when talking about things like computers being hacked and infected with viruses, which can completely wipe out important data. In a more literal sense, something can be physically destructed, like a building demolished to make way for new construction. But in both cases, the idea is that whatever was there before is now gone or no longer exists.
