A corpse is a dead body.
When we talk about a corpse, we usually do so in a formal or medical way. For example, doctors might discuss a patient's condition after they've passed away, or police officers might investigate the scene of a death to determine what happened. In these cases, the word "corpse" is used quite literally – it simply means the body of someone who has died.
