A continuation is an ongoing or extended part of something that started earlier.

When we talk about a continuation, we usually mean it's a new development, stage, or phase of something that was already happening. Imagine watching your favorite TV show and then seeing a movie where the story picks up right where the show left off - that's basically what a continuation is in real life too! It might be a project at work that keeps going even after the initial deadline, a class you're taking that has multiple semesters, or even a family tradition that carries on from one generation to the next. The idea is that something started, and then it kept going, often with some new elements added along the way.
