Conduction happens when heat or energy moves from one thing to another without being changed.

We often use conduction in science and everyday life. For example, when you hold a hot cup of coffee on a cold table, the warmth in the cup passes to the table through a process called conduction. This is because there's direct contact between the two objects, allowing the heat to flow from one to another. In our daily lives, we also experience conduction when we feel the warmth of a heater or the coolness of an air conditioner on our skin.

How common is "conduction"?

Word conduction is considered rare in modern English.
It appears most frequently in academic texts and less often in other writings.
