A chute is a long, narrow passage or tube for moving objects down. You can also use the word "chute" to describe a quick way out of somewhere.
Imagine going skydiving – at first, you're attached to an instructor and then when it's time to jump on your own, you take the leap of faith and start falling towards the ground. For a moment, you're in free fall before the parachute opens up. During that initial descent, you might go through a narrow tunnel or slide called a chute. It helps guide you smoothly to the landing area.
In general, when people talk about chutes, they usually mean those big tubes or slides used for parachuting or maybe even for packing items like potatoes. In some places, like water parks, you can ride down an inflatable chute on an inner tube, laughing and screaming as you go.
A framework, trough or tube, upon or through which objects are made to slide from a higher to a lower level, or through which water passes to a wheel.
